SoCal Save The Date: Pattern + a Pop of Color
The Perfect Combination
The first time I called Laura to talk paper goods, I left a super awkward voicemail and was 100% uncertain if she’d call me back. I had just gotten a new business line and couldn’t remember the phone number so I was frantically searching for it while attempting to sound super casual in my message. I failed, I accept that haha. Thankfully, it all worked out. She called me back and we got to work together - (you the real VIP, Laura!).
While talking, I learned that both her and Travis were from the East Coast and a ton of their guests would be traveling cross country. Having grown up in New York myself, and my husband growing up between New York and Boston, I could totally relate. I think there is something especially exciting about inviting your east coast friends and family to come out and fall in love with California the way that you have.
During the custom design process, they decided to use the same language that I had used on my own save the dates - ‘Join Us On The West Coast’ - as someone born and raised in NY, this language feels so laid-back and inviting to me aka the perfect match for a SoCal celebration, so obviously I was super excited to be able to use it again. Paired with a minimalistic layout, we used color and pattern to shake things up a bit. We pulled in Spanish-influenced tile elements to give guests a preview of the (insanely gorgeous!) venue that they’d be celebrating at next Spring - Omni La Costa Resort & Spa. I pressed it all on ridiculously soft, luxe cotton paper in a creamsicle hue - reminiscent of the sunsets we get out here.
This creamy orange and simple layout make for the perfect combination of strong yet subtle so I love it as an example of the how playing with pattern and/or color doesn’t always equal a super loud design!
Congratulations, Laura and Travis! xx
